In college, a friend of mine tricked me into promising to memorize the entire gospel of John. I think I got halfway through chapter 4 before giving up hope. It is a great way to study, though. I'm sure you will have lots of insights into what is going on in that epistle. Be sure to post them!

By the way, have you taken a look at the ESV? It does a good job, I think, of being both literal and good English. That's probably the version I would choose if I were going to abandon God's Own Translation.</description>
