I just want to see the dentist!

So two of my teeth started hurting, so I figure I need to see the dentist. I got the DMO plan from work because it was cheaper. I do not like DMOs.

If Ben was running dentistry care here’s how things would work:

1. Lookup dentist on dental insurance website to see dentists available in plan.
2. Call dentist, make appointment.
3. Get teeth fixed.

Here’s how it works with an DMO.

1. Call dentist who says you have to make them the primary dentist on your plan.
2. Call dental provider with robo-answerer that says to ask it a question. No matter what question it’s asked it says, “I’m sorry, I didn’t quite get that.” Repeat the word “Human” until it transfers you to a human.
3. If you get message saying it’s not their hours of operation (after 8am?) wait one day and go to step 2.
4. If you get a human change primary dentist. The representative informs you this doesn’t take place until the 1st of the month (why?!), even if you’ve been trying to contact them since before last month.
5. Call dentist, make appointment.
6. Wait until first of month.
7. Get teeth fixed.
