A call to all ISPs
This is a call to all ISPs! I want Internet. Of all the providers in my area none have been competent. I am willing to /pay/ for service. Please market to me. Tell me what you can offer.
Here are my demands:
- < $55/month
- 24/7 billing and support availability via phone OR email responses within 24 hours (I don’t want to deal with you during work).
- Do not charge me late fees when your autopay system fails.
- Do not charge me for equipment not returned when your technicians say they don’t want it because it’s too old.
- Do not make me go down to your office to fix account issues, you come to me.
- Do not bill me $101.85/month if my service is $34.95/month.
- Be able to provide at least 3Mbit down and 500Kbps up.
- Ping to the nearest peer should be < 100ms
- No non-standard forms of authentication. No 3rd party software.
- When I say your service is down don’t say it’s because I’m using Linux or a Mac. I know what I’m doing. Your service is down.
- No ports blocked incoming or out.
- I don’t want email, web hosting, etc. I just want internet.
- I am willing to consider just about anything: DSL, Cable, Fiber, Wireless, and other options.
- No contracts. Month to month. If your service is good, I’ll renew, if not I won’t. Your motivation for good service is to keep my business.
- If anyone is living on the other side of the wash (in the Verizon Fios zone in Redlands) and is willing to setup point to point wireless I’m game. I’ll pay for the equipment on both ends. I have an FCC license to do this.
