I was thinking of modifying it so that a credit card swipe with a hold of $100 is required to ring the doorbell. If I don’t answer or if it’s a friend/family member nothing is charged. This will discourage most most solicitors. For those who are confident enough to think they can sell me something I will give them an incentive to get to the point by charging their card $10 for each minute of my time they use to pitch their product/service. If the pitch is longer than 10 minutes they have to re-swipe their credit card for another $100 authorization.
