When justice is done, it is a joy to the righteous but terror to evildoers.
– Proverbs 21:15 ESV
What a way to close out Pride month. I never thought the reversal of Roe V Wade possible. While we are not there yet, the right for babies to live is something towards which I strive. I thought America was too far gone to care about her children.
Now, the rest of this post is something they won’t teach you in school.
Today is a reminder that God is sovereign over the affairs of men.
While the reversal does not ban Abortion, it does give control of the issue to the states. Some lives will be saved. Even an incremental step towards reducing Abortion is only an act of Grace from God holding us back from our wicked hearts.
Some people don’t agree with me that killing unborn babies is wrong (and you might be one of them). Scott Klusendorf’s book, The Case for Life, is one I recommend to anyone (even if you’re Pro-Choice) to understand the Christian position on life. The essence of why Abortion is wrong is this:
- It is wrong to intentionally kill an innocent human being.
- Abortion intentionally kills an innocent human being.
- Therefore, Abortion is wrong.
That is a simple argument, but I have yet to see anyone refute it. The righteous position is straightforward. There are inconsistent or unscientific arguments against it, like saying unborn human beings aren’t human. 🤡
I have not seen serious argumentation that can stand against this syllogism.
Where We Are
I give thanks to God for this win. I also acknowledge that more work must be done. For one, Abortion is still legal in the United States and will still be permitted in wicked states. Secondly, this was overturned in today’s political climate because Trump had appointed enough new Supreme Court Justices who interpret the constitution according to its original intent. The Roe V. Wade decision was never an interpretation of the original intent of the U.S. Constitution but one of activism. It was never a legitimate ruling. Evil always uses lawlessness to accomplish its purpose.
I do not believe the overturning of Roe V. Wade will last long without repentance in America. Today the Supreme Court swung to the good side; tomorrow, it will swing to evil again.
As long as the majority of people in the United States of America reject a Holy God, as long as sexual immorality and idolatry are rampant, the people of America will vote for an evil President who will appoint judges that bend the knee to Moloch. Leftism is a religion, and Abortion is the sacrament of that religion. The left will not give up child sacrifice easily. The Supreme Court Justices will eventually be replaced with Justices who will re-instate Roe V. Wade. Unless… God changes the hearts of people.
The Change Must be from the Heart
The real problem is not the lack of laws protecting the unborn, but it is Sin. The rage which drives people to fight to sacrifice children is a symptom of the condition of the heart. Like my favorite black ink, the human heart is dark. Can anyone understand it?
The real hope is not in the Supreme Court. The real hope is with the Gospel, which has the power to change totally depraved hearts. A judicial win is a terror to evildoers, but the message of the Gospel can remove that heart of stone and replace it with a heart of flesh. We are all sinners, God sent His Son Jesus Christ to die for our sins, and He was raised from the dead. By repenting and believing in Him, we can have eternal life.
How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching?
– Romans 10:11-14 ESV
Unless hearts change, the law of the land will be murder and death.
God has ordained the Gospel to change hearts.
Preach the Gospel.
